I’m Getting Married TODAY [January 3rd, 2010]

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!

I couldn’t sleep last night I was so excited. I spent hours trying to get my heart rate to slow the frell down. I tried breathing, I tried stretching, I tried the many relaxation techniques I know, nothing helped. I eventually fell asleep. Last time I looked at the clock it was 1:40. I woke up again at 4:30, tried to get back to sleep again, got out of bed at 5:08. It is now 5:40 and I have never been more awake in my entire life. I thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep because I was worried, not excited! I didn’t anticipate excited! This hasn’t happened since the night before I met Jerry O’Connell. I’m not worried about ANYTHING! Just so excited, there are no words for my excitement. I started jumping up and down when I was brushing my teeth. Today is going to be awesome!!!!!!!

While the Last Post Was Up [December 28th, 2009]

Princess has her appetite back … times ten. The dog can’t get enough food, it’s amazing. She went into my room and ate some of the Hershey Kisses for the favors, foil and all. She keeps going back in to look for more.

She’s much happier. All tail waggy again. Jumping on the chair to look out the window. They got new toys from the groomer. They squeak. Buffy is afraid of them, but Princess has been playing.

Took Rachie to get facials. We spent forever there, but it was relaxing.

I also went shopping. Bought a couple of new dresses plus finished up Christmas shopping.

Christmas Eve I got to leave work early. When I came home, I logged into work, to see if this developer emailed me. I won’t be on for two weeks after all. It turns out he did and I emailed him back. Then this guy from another system Q’s me asking if he can call me. I give him my cell number. He starts ranting about how the problem Barb emailed about on Friday is our fault and not theirs. I know, I would have fixed it Friday if I had been at work. I try to tell him that I know it’s our problem, we fixed it and Preeti him an email on Tuesday telling him that, but he goes on and on and on because Barb didn’t send an email. Maybe because she’s out because it’s frelling Christmas! It took all my willpower not to hang up on the guy. I don’t even know what he was saying towards the end. I kept saying, uh huh, right, yup, I know, our problem, right, we got it. Dude, Christmas Eve, wtf???

I made hummus. I followed this recipe and it came out tasting like lemons. So I made a second batch to even it out. It’s edible now, though the store bought kind is much better and much cheaper. I also made brownies, from a mix. They’re probably normal.

We went to my parents’ for Christmas and then to Bryan’s step-sister’s husband’s sister’s house. They did a grab bag thing. It was a good thing we brought generic presents :P That was a lot of fun

Saturday was my bachelorette party. We got our nails done, went out to dinner and then back to Rachie’s for silly games and general nonsense. Good times :D I left early though ’cause it was a long day and I was falling asleep. Lame to leave your own party? Probably, but I’m sure they still had fun once I was gone.

Sunday was just as crazy as Saturday with finishing up last minute wedding stuff. Went to Bryan’s mom’s to celebrate Christmas. Again, much fun, but I was falling asleep, lol. Too much to do.

Today I am freaking the frell out! I tried to renew my acne medication, but I can’t because the prescription is wrong. I tried calling them to fix it, but I’m pretty sure they’re closed today. I’m nine pills short. If I don’t get a refill, I’m totally going to break out, especially because I’m stressed, so, um, yeah, I’m freaking out! I also haven’t heard diddly from our DJ/videographer/DOC and that is also freaking me out. So basically I’m incredibly stressed and freaked out right now.

An Ode to the 00’s [December 21st, 2009]

Due to my crazy record keeping, I can actually do this. I call it, An Ode to the 00’s: A Look Back at the Last Ten Years of my insignificant life. It seems that every year since 99 my life got better and better. Hope the trend continues!

December ‘99:
My grandma, my dad’s mom, died 10 years ago. She lived with us and helped raised me, so we were really close. Needless to say, that was a pretty crappy Christmas. I remember I was allowed to open one of my presents early that year. My leather jacket that I knew I was getting. I wore it when we drove to my grandpa’s, my mom’s dad, on Christmas Eve. I guess we were dropping him off after the funeral? I really don’t remember. A few days before my grandma’s surgery she told me she never thought she’d live to see 2000. :( New Year’s was pretty crazy that year, being 2000 and all. I opened my time capsule that I made in third grade. There really wasn’t anything profound in there.

A Week of Celebration! [December 13th, 2009]

Princess was playing with me and eating somewhat normally when I was home on Tuesday. She even asked me to pet her which she hasn’t done in weeks :)

I baked a cake while I was home on Tuesday for our holiday party at work on Wednesday. There was so much food there. We voted on the best. My cake got four votes. I placed somewhere around 8th I think, lol. There was a lot of goooooood stuff. I ate way too much. Our performance went well too. We didn’t get to sing any of the other songs we planned, but I think it was for the best. They would have taken away from the first two :P

So, after the holiday party, Maryam asks me if I’m going to Jay’s birthday party on Thursday. I tell her I don’t know because I ate so much! She told me I have to go, it’s at the Malaysian place, my favorite! Bells started going off in my head. If Jay’s birthday was Wednesday, why are we celebrating on Thursday instead of Friday. Because I’m off Friday and this is my surprise shower! I play along, just in case it really is Jay’s birthday, and agree to go. I even look up Jay’s birthday on our calendar to see if it really was that week. Yup, it was, but I was still suspicious. Bogdan came in to ask us to delete something he sent accidentally. I ask him if there’s a OneTeam meeting tomorrow, a test. He looks panicked for a second, but mumbles something about some other meeting he has and says he’ll cancel the OneTeam meeting. He then sends an email saying he’s canceling the meeting due to a conflict with MOST of the members. Hmm, they wouldn’t be going to Jay’s birthday, he’s not even in CDT anymore. I go home and tell Bryan about my suspicious and recount the evidence I have so far. I try and keep myself from not getting excited, but I KNOW that it’s my party.

The next day at work, I walk the halls looking for clues in peoples’ faces. Oh yeah, they have the “I know something you don’t know” face. These people should never play poker. Kathy comes in to our office with a card to sign for Jay. I think, how cute! I sign without question. I ask Maryam who’s driving to the restaurant. She says she is and we’ll go with Kathy. … we arranged the carpool already? We go downstairs at exactly 12:00 and everyone else has already left. Oh yeah, this is definitely waaaaay too organized for just a small birthday party. When we get out of the car at the restaurant Maryam and Kathy talk about Varun and Jay leaving a little before us, so they should be there already. I think … it is my shower … right? … right? I walk in and there’s 12 of my friends already seated and smiling at me. I turn to Kathy and Maryam, “you guys are bad.” Jay’s in India. Nice cover.

Half the fun of a surprise is trying to figure it out :P It was a great party. I love that place. Of course I ate way too much and then had three desserts on top of it. I have to fit into my dress dammit! But it was an awesome week.

Friday I took off and went shopping, got my eyebrows done, and applied for the marriage license. Usually these government people are, well, you’ve been to the DMV. This lady was really nice though. Got a little lost going there because there are TWO Old Bridge Plaza’s, but we eventually found our way.

Yesterday Bryan and I went to the mall. Took us an hour because they closed the exit we usually take and the exit for rt 1 is only on the southbound side and not the north, but we didn’t know that. We ended up making a really, really, big circle, lol. We didn’t buy anything. I mostly wanted to go to walk around. We went to Uno after :D

We used some of our wedding gifts this weekend :D The Brita pitcher, the chopper and the waffle iron. I made whole wheat waffles with almond milk. Considering they’re relatively healthy, they’re extremely yummy! Unfortunately, the almond milk says you have to use it within a week of opening, so I spent the morning making and freezing waffles. I also made some hot chocolate with some of the almond milk. It was actually really good. I highly recommend it.

The Princess is OK [December 7th, 2009]

Princess had surgery on Friday to remove the seven pound tumor that would have otherwise killed her within a matter of weeks. The surgery went well and we brought her home yesterday. She still seems pretty miserable, but she just had surgery, so hopefully she’ll feel better in a few days. I put her pain pills in peanut butter, but she didn’t want to take them. I had to force the first one into her mouth, but after she tasted some of the peanut butter, she wanted more and readily ate the second. She still won’t eat dog food.

My bridal shower was Saturday. Fun, but absolutely exhausting. You can read about it on the wedding blog. I still can’t believe it snowed. Seriously, wtf? Felt bad for the peeps with a long trip, especially the ones who got lost :( But they made it and all was well.

Tomorrow I’m going to work from my parents’ house to stay home with Princess. Wednesday is our holiday lunch at work. I’m supposed to bake a cake and sing. Friday I’m taking off to get the marriage license. This is my last free weekend before the wedding.

Thanksgiving [December 1st, 2009]

Wednesday night we went to see Nicole Atkins in Asbury Park with Cheryl and her boyfriend. That was fun. She sang a bunch of new songs. Music was too loud though. Need to remember to buy earplugs next time.

Thanksgiving was nice. Ate too much yummy stuff at the future in-law’s :D I made up for it by cleaning the entire apartment on Friday and then exercising on top of that. Didn’t gain any weight, yip!

My grandma once told me that she weighed 99 pounds when she got married. At the time I was overweight and thought I would never be even close. I’m only five pounds more. I strength train. I somehow doubt my grandma used to lift weights … My dad found her wedding album a couple weeks ago. Found out she got married in January too. The bridesmaid dresses looked so pretty in black in white, but then we found a photo that was colored in and saw that they were the ugliest shade of green, lol. I’ve never been a fan of green.

Princess was feeling a little better this week. She gobbles down soup like there’s no tomorrow, but she still won’t touch dog food. It’s also pretty obvious that she’s in pain, but that could just be from her arthritis. She can still jump up on the bed and the couch though.

My parents are going to get a sedative and take her back to the vet on Thursday. She might need surgery, but we don’t think that’s such a good idea. She was really miserable after she had all of her fatty tumors removed and that was a few years ago. We don’t want to put her through that again. We really just want them to do whatever they can to make her comfortable. I feel lucky that Princess has been with us as long as she has because labs in general don’t live that long. She wags her tail when we come home, she begs for pizza crust, she still enjoys dog treats, but she’s not happy like she used to be. She seems frustrated that she can’t jump and sit like she used to. Even peeing’s a chore. It must be hard getting old :( I hope the vet can make her feel better.

My parents went to a Jazz concert Saturday, so I came over to dogsit. Since I had gone for my hair and makeup trial in the morning, I had the amazing idea to invite everyone over for smores :D A bunch of peoples came and there was much marshmallow and chocolate eating. I think Princess enjoyed the company. She certainly enjoyed the little bit of chocolate I dripped on the floor.

RSVPs are due today and we’re still missing more than half. There’s quite a few people I know are coming/aren’t coming though. If all of the rest of our list respond yes, then we’ll make our minimum! The odds are not in our favor though… I’m hoping we’ll at least get 125. We’re at 84 right now.

I Love My Job [November 25th, 2009]

Work is awesome this week. No one’s here. We have no meetings. I can finally work on the multicast thing that was supposed to get done for the October release. It actually turned out better this way, because it’s completely useless without another feature and I would have had to do it all over again anyway. I really like this application. It’s a pretty nifty little piece of code. Unfortunately, I am going to break a bit of it’s niftiness for the sake of simplicity. Sorry Ruben!

I think I’ve only gotten maybe 20 emails so far this week. I was originally going to take off on Friday, but why bother? I definitely don’t need a vacation day right now.

A bunch of my coworkers have said they can probably make it to the wedding. Squee! I invited about 30 of them, lol. Is it sad I have more coworker friends than outside friends? My coworkers are pretty awesome.

I’ve been stalking our registries. People have bought us some good stuff. Our number one item is gone :D If you want a tip for a cheaper gift we really want, it’s the only DVD we have on our amazon registry ;) My personal #1 gift is still up there, but I think my mommy is going to get it for me. It’s a wittle expensives, but I am in dire need of a new one.

OK, I’m gonna bum you all out now. Princess has been sick for over a week. For those who don’t know, Princess is our Lab who’s turning 14 in February. My dad took her to the puppy emergency room last week, but she was so freaked out, they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. It could just be a flu virus or something, but they did feel something in her tummy. She hasn’t been eating well, throwing up in the mornings. You can tell she feels crappy. Her little nose is warm. She’s also been sneezing more than usual. They would take her back to the vet, but we’re worried she can’t handle it. Poor baby, I just want her to feel better.

OK, end on a high note. We’re going to see Nicole Atkins tonight! Yay!
